China Eastern Airlines is a Chinese air carrier headquartered on the grounds of Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport. It is one of the major Chinese airlines serving domestic, regional and international routes. The airline has its main hubs are at Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport and Shanghai Pudong International Airport and secondary hubs at Kunming Changshui International Airport, Beijing Capital International Airport and Xi'an Xianyang International Airport.

China Eastern was founded in June 1988 and in 1997 became the first Chinese airline company with shares in the international market. It joined the SkyTeam international airline alliance on 21 June 2011. Eastern Miles, its frequent flyer program, allows regular passengers to earn and redeem flying points and avail special airport services. China United Airlines and Shanghai Airlines, it subsidiary air carriers, are also part of Eastern Miles. It has codeshare agreements with a number of global airlines which include, among others, Aeroflot, Air France, Delta Air Lines, KLM, Qantas, Hong Kong Airlines, etc.
